As a result of the Corona crisis: The Tour de France is also being relocated

Now the Corona crisis is hitting the next major sporting event after the European Football Championship and the Olympic Games: The Tour de France, which was originally supposed to start in late June, is being postponed. A new date has already been set.

The Tour de France 2020 is postponed due to the Corona crisis 2020 and is now to be held from August 29 to September 20. This was announced by the organizer ASO. The original stage plan is retained. The tour should have started on June 27th in Nice and traditionally ended on July 19th at the Paris Champs-Elysees. On Monday, Head of State Emmanuel Macron banned all major events until July 11th.

“In recent weeks there has been constant communication between riders, teams, the organizers and other relevant third parties. All of this has been done with the support of the World Association UCI, which is responsible for organizing a new global cycling calendar in which the tour joins Occupies a place of honor, “said the ASO. “The organizers of the Tour de France are in regular contact with all parties involved, from the local communities to the authorities.”

With the Tour de France, France’s most important sporting event, the last major event of the summer due to the Corona pandemic will not be held as planned. Previously, the Olympic Games and the European Football Championship had been postponed to 2021 and Wimbledon had been completely canceled. The Great Loop has not taken place since its premiere in 1903, only in the course of the two world wars. On March 13, the 103rd Giro d’Italia, the first major tour of the country, had been temporarily canceled, a new date has not yet been set here.
