Arteta Resigns Arsenal to Only One Point

Leeds

Mikel Arteta not happy with performance Arsenal when matched by Leeds United. However, seeing the Gunners situation in that match, Arteta was satisfied with one point.

Arsenal visited Elland Road, Sunday (11/22/2020) evening WIB, to target three points. Because, Arsenal are still stuck in the middle and have had trouble appearing okay lately.

In the first half, Arsenal seemed unable to break the Leeds defense even though they had played a trio of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe and Willian. Crazy, Arsenal could not make a single shot on target during the first half.

At the start of the second half, Arsenal even lost Pepe, who was red-carded after grazing Ezgjan Alioski in a goalless situation. Losing one player made it even harder for Arsenal to pursue victory.

Leeds seemed to be given space to attack and nearly created three goals, all of which were caught by the crossbar. Until the match ended, the score 0-0 lasted.

After the match, Arteta admitted that he was disappointed with his team’s failure to achieve full points. However, Arteta understands one point considering Arsenal had to survive with 10 players throughout the second half, accepting the onslaught of Leeds.

“Seeing how we lost Pepe at the start of the second half, we have to accept this one point. I never like a draw, but this is an important point considering the existing conditions. It’s hard to accept,” Arteta said as quoted by BBC Sport.

“There were two periods in the first half. First when we started off guard, we easily lost the ball and let them have space to attack. In the second half, more on how to defend well and remain patient, to take advantage of the space they left,” continued Mikel Arteta.

Can only add one point, Arsenal now stuck in 11th place in the standings with 13 points from nine matches.
