Art within art

The building that houses the Guggenheim Museum in New York was the last great work of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Earlier, Lloyd Wright had become famous as a designer for a philosophy that permeated all his creations: organic architecture. One of its best examples is the Cascade House, built in 1937 in Pennsylvania, United States, and declared a World Heritage Site. In the image, the brilliant creator can be seen, hat in hand, with Baroness Hilla Rebay and Solomon R. Guggenheim contemplating the model of the future work. The art gallery sponsor did not know which architect should design his building and asked the baroness to choose one. The result was a construction that became a work of art in itself. The Guggenheim works were completed shortly after his death in 1959.
