Art and photography in common, this is “Live Lab Lúa Ribeira”

Madrid, Jun 4 (EFE) .- Six photographers, five days of work and an installation result in the exhibition “Live Lab Lúa Ribeira”, the project of the Spanish photographer Lúa Ribeira to approach from art and accompanied by five photographers some of the consequences of the pandemic in the framework of PhotoESPAÑA.

Lua Ribeira, Antoine D’Agata, María Sánchez, Ricardo Cases, Claudia Caremi and Megane Mercury show in this experimental laboratory at La Tabacalera Promoción de Arte (Madrid) the economic, social and material consequences of the pandemic, in a sample that Ribeira has defined in the presentation as “a set of fun and delusional energies”.

“Choosing the team was an intuitive decision to see what this group could sound like. She wanted contrasts and people who would bring freshness, without the pressure or deep knowledge of photography, in order to create freely ”, Ribeira points out about the choice of the other five photographers who, together with her, shape this installation.

This joint creation in the same space is precisely one of the most relevant aspects of the exhibition, in which “different individual works put together” converge and carried out in just five days. “Although it is tiring, it is very interesting to work in such a short time,” explains Ribeira, after spending “the whole night without sleep creating together” to end the show.

This is how different prisms and approaches converge in an installation that from different perspectives treats these consequences from a conceptual prism through photographic and documentary materials, which can be seen in the men’s bathrooms of the old tobacco factory in Madrid, now an artistic center under the name “La Tabacalera”.

“The themes cannot be explained because they would lose their meaning,” says Ribeira, who encourages the viewer to enter this installation, where they can see photographs and videos made by these six photographers, in works that start from “different Goya titles, they are a great influence from which a lot can be drawn, ”says Ribeira, with whom his colleagues coincide.

For Ricardo Cases it is “a gift to work intensively and together, forgetting about everything and focusing on production”, he explains about the creative process of these “disparate Boces among which Lúa creates a very interesting tune”, he clarifies.

Megane Mercury makes his debut in this exhibition, of which he is the youngest photographer. “I was interested in portraying a friend beyond the human and gender barriers, generating an impact on a rare type of photography,” she explains.

“Being able to work on my work putting things in common with Lúa Ribeira and Rircardo Cases has been an experience, as well as being able to maintain a connection between all our works that arises from dialogue: the thought in this room is common, promoted by Lúa, who It has caused us to take our work one step further, ”says María Sánchez.
