Arsenal and Tottenham have to fight for one remaining ticket to the Champions League. The difference between the two points is thin.
Tottenham temporarily lead by being ranked fourth in the Premier League standings, with 68 points. The Lilywhites are two points ahead of Arsenal, who have 66 points in fifth place.
Two consecutive defeats to be the cause. Arsenal slaughtered Tottenham 0-3, then continued with Newcastle United bent 0-2.
There is only one game left in the English Premier League. Arsenal will face Everton in the last week, while Tottenham are waiting for Norwich City.
Arsenal must win and hope Tottenham lose in order to qualify for the Champions League. On the other hand, Tottenham only need one point to lock up the top four tickets.
“We need to win, and we need to lose to them. We know that in football it is always possible. If something happens you have to be there to do it,” Arteta said, quoted by talkSport.
“You have to keep your head down, swallow the disappointment we all felt, hopefully, and start again. We still have a few days to prepare for the game against Everton. We know what we have to do.”
“I don’t think many words are needed after the performance against Newcastle,” explained Mikel Arteta.
