Arsenal have held talks to sign Sandro Tonali

Arsenal have an interest in AC Milan star Sandro Tonali and have already held talks about a possible deal.

Mikel Arteta has been able to spend a lot of money in this transfer window on transfers that have already made a big impact at the Emirates, and his team now look to be one of the top four contenders.

However, that won’t stop him from trying to bring a few more players to the club at the end of the transfer window, and Tonali is a player he likes a lot.

Tonali, who sees his contract at San Siro expire in 2026, played 36 times for the Rossoneri last season, contributing directly to eight goals from midfield.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal have already contacted AC Milan about a possible deal. And journalist Enrico Camelio has confirmed, on behalf of the Italian outlet on TV Play, that the two clubs have already entered talks about a possible transfer that could cost as much as €55m (£46.4m).

“Milan and Arsenal met and talked about Tonali,” Camelio said.

The Rossoneri have declared that the midfielder is not transferable, but if a proposal of 55 million arrives, Milan could sell him and make two purchases.

The 22-year-old’s impressive displays contributed heavily to AC Milan’s first Scudetto in nine years, and they are keen to retain control but would sell if the asking price is reached.

The money being talked about is a lot for the player and we cannot see this transfer being made for that amount of money. Tonali has been good but he is not a £50m player.

Arsenal will do more business and it will be interesting to see who arrives, but we think Tonali will not be a gunner at the end of the window.
