Arsenal gives their best performance and beats Aston Villa

Arsenal delivered their best performance of the season, winning 3-1 over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday.

The Gunners dominated at will for most of the match and took a 3-0 lead before Jacob Ramsey closed in on Villa, who pressed for the final 10 minutes without squeezing the match any further.

Thomas Partey opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with his first goal for Arsenal, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead shortly after half-time.

The Gabonese had missed a penalty but scored on the rebound.

Emile Smith Rowe capped off an outstanding display by scoring the third goal in the 56th minute on a swift counter.

The victory placed Arsenal in ninth place, heading into the weekend’s games, with 14 points.

The meeting thus marked a notable improvement in the performance of the Spanish team Mikel Arteta, who on Monday required a goal from Alexandre Lacazette in the discounts to rescue a draw at home against Crystal Palace.

Lacazette was rewarded with his first start game of the season, and he was part of a formation that played with an intensity rarely seen in recent times.

The Gunners had generated numerous chances by the time Partey scored with a header from a corner kick. Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, formerly of Arsenal, could not prevent the ball from entering the goal.

Smith Rowe, subject of an offer from Villa before this campaign, left the match practically defined. He chased a pass that Aubameyang advanced and scored with a shot that managed to deflect another player.

Ramsey scored with a prodigious warped shot from the edge of the penalty area. But it was too late for Villa to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the Premier.
