This fire at the beach of Dune du Pilat near Arcachon is known to have been caused by a burning car that broke down along a road. Currently, the fire at Landiras is much bigger than the one on the coast. About 36,000 people have been evacuated in the affected areas in a week. No injuries have been reported.

In the north of the department, a small forest fire is now raging near a village not far from the mouth of the rivers Dordogne and Garonne, about 90 kilometers north of Bordeaux.
