A court in Los Angeles has officially divorced Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mary Schriver 10 years after they began living apart because of the actor’s distrust, U.S. media reported on Wednesday.
The celebritynews site TMZ reported that the divorce proceedings were particularly lengthy due to the need to negotiate a number of financial assets.
Shrave, a journalist and niece of former US President John Kennedy, filed for divorce for the first time in July 2011.
A few weeks later, Schwarzenegger admitted that he had an affair with the babysitter Mildred Baen, who had his illegitimate son born in 1997.
“After leaving as governor, I thanked my wife for what happened more than 10 years ago,” Schwarzenegger, California’s governor from 2003 to 2011, told the Los Angeles Times at the time.
In his divorce application, Schraiver referred to “irreconcilable differences”.
Schwarzenegger and Schraiver first met in 1977 and married in 1986. They have four children together.
