An unknown assailant opened fire in one of the buildings of Perm State University in Russia, TASS reported, citing a source in law enforcement.
According to preliminary information from the Russian Interior Ministry, 8 people were injured and killed, and the armed man, who is a student, was detained. According to REN TV, it is about 18-year-old Timur Bekmansurov, according to the Lenta news site.
The student left a message on social networks before attacking the university. He stated that he was not an extremist and that his crime was not a terrorist attack. He added that he had been preparing the attack for a long time and was collecting money to buy a firearm.
