The Argentine presidency said today, Tuesday, that Argentina seeks to strengthen its economic relations with China.
Argentine President Alberto Fernandez told his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in a telephone conversation that “Argentina is a country that has many opportunities and China can become a major player here.”
It is noteworthy that the Argentine economy, which is the second largest in South America, was suffering from a severe crisis even before the outbreak of the new Corona virus.
With limited funding available to Argentina, which is suffering from the accumulation of exorbitant debt, the Argentine government is looking forward to strengthening economic cooperation with China, according to media reports.
Fernandez said that the two countries could cooperate in sectors such as public works, energy, transportation and housing, according to the Argentine presidential statement.
For his part, Xi said China wants to import more Argentine value-added products, and invited his Argentine counterpart to visit China.
