Are we going to Germany again en masse to refuel? The petrol will soon be 50 cents cheaper there than in the Netherlands

From June 1, it pays to refuel in Germany. If prices on the world market remain stable, a liter of Euro 95 will cost 1.72 Euro. That is almost fifty cents less than in the Netherlands. Here, off-highway gasoline costs around 2.20. The difference with the recommended retail price in the Netherlands (2.36 euros) is even higher: 64 cents.

Diesel is also getting cheaper in Germany, but not as much as petrol. The diesel excise duty falls by 14 cents. Because diesel prices in the Netherlands and Germany are now approximately the same at 2.08 euros, it will also be cheaper to refuel in Germany from 1 June.

excise discount

The reason for the price drop is the excise tax discount that Germany will introduce in just over a week. The government has announced a whole package of measures to deal with the consequences of high energy prices for citizens.

Efforts are also being made to get people on public transport. A monthly ticket on regional public transport will soon cost 9 euros. The discount on fuel prices is valid for three months.

Peak on March 3

Before the start of the war in Ukraine, the average suggested retail price for a liter of petrol in Germany was 1.70 euros. On March 3, a peak of 2.19 was reached. At the moment, the price of a liter of petrol fluctuates around two euros. In Germany, the price of a liter of petrol can change during the day. Gas is usually the most expensive in the morning.

The difference between the Netherlands and Belgium is currently 25 to 30 cents. In Belgium, a liter costs between 1.90 and 1.97, depending on the discounts at the pump. Diesel costs about 1.92 euros in Belgium.
