are the French world champions?

In the United States, the law does not provide for a minimum number of days of leave that employers must grant to their employees. On the other hand, companies generally grant about fifteen days of paid leave per year. We are far from the 25 legal days in France, to which we must add 11 public holidays.

France at the top of the European ranking

In the European Union, France is one of the countries where employees have the most vacation days. If we add paid holidays and public holidays, Sweden and Spain also arrive at 36 days, according to a classification of the Statistica site. In the UK, the number of paid public holidays varies from company to company. Some Britons are therefore a little better off than the French, others a little worse off.

But there is even better with our European neighbors. Austrians also have 25 days of paid vacation per yearbut with their 13 public holidays, they add up to a total of 38. Even better, Malta has 27 days off and 14 public holidays, or 41 in all.

This is better than in Portugal (34 days in total), than in Germany (33), or even in Belgium (30).

In the rest of the world, Kuwait in the lead

On the other hand, in the rest of the world, there is better! The world champion on this criterion is Kuwait, where employees benefit from 30 days of paid vacation per year and 13 public holidays, i.e. 43 days of vacation in total. Note that some Cambodians do even better: they can have up to 45 days (18 days off and 27 public holidays), but this number varies. The WordAtlas website thus only has 42 days in total in Cambodia, placing it in second place.

Next in this same ranking are Georgia (39 days), then the European countries that we have already mentioned. Burkina Faso, Syria, Tanzania and Yemen all the same arrive before France, with 37 days if we add paid holidays and public holidays.

At the bottom of the ranking: United States, Mexico, Canada

In the countries where employees can take the least rest, we find, in addition to the United States, Mexico, where 6 days off and 7 public holidays are provided. In Canada, these figures vary greatly from employee to employee, but the worst-off workers only have 16 vacation days in total.
