A new building complements the school campus in Aarwangen, Bern. The architects say they tried to adopt the children’s perspective.

Mr. Kloter, what is special about this construction project?
Adrian Kloter: The program includes a primary school building with a kindergarten. Together with the existing buildings, our new Sonnhalde building forms an ensemble; this clearly defines the terrain. A school campus and a new center in the village were created. What is special about the project are the two opposing staircases in the double-sided access room, which can be converted into a classroom or used as a place of study if required. This is made possible by a separate escape staircase.
