Archaeologists have found a golden bowl in Austria, which is about 3 thousand years old – photo

At the site of a prehistoric settlement in Ebreichsdorf in Austria, archaeologists have discovered a unique golden bowl, which is about three thousand years old. Experts suggest that earlier it could have been used in rituals associated with the worship of the sun god.

As the magazine told Old Origins, the bowl is made of gold. It was the first such find found in Austria and the second to the east of the Alps.

The article says that the bowl was located shallow underground, not far from the wall of one of the houses of the prehistoric settlement. The bowl is five centimeters high and 20 centimeters in diameter. According to the ornament on it, scientists have determined that its creators worshiped the Sun.

After conducting a chemical analysis of the bowl, experts found that 90% of it is made of gold, and the remaining 10% is silver and copper. This alloy has confused scientists. According to them, the ancient people living in the site of the current excavation did not practice such mixing of metals, which means that the bowl could have been brought from somewhere, experts suggest.

It is known that in addition to the bowl, archaeologists found two gold bracelets made of twisted wire, and, presumably, some kind of leather goods wrapped in thin gold.

Emphasizing the importance of the find, scientists noted that archaeologists have already found something similar in Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark. However, these were isolated finds; in this case, about 500 items were found in one place, including bronze pins and knives.

Excavations at this site started in 2019. It is planned to build a railway station at this place.
