Indonesian Retailers Association (Aprindo) threatens to stop selling cooking oil in all retail members if the government does not immediately pay off debts of IDR 344 billion.
Aprindo Chairman Roy Nicholas Mandey said the debt came from the difference in the price of cooking oil alias rafaksi in the one price program in 2022 which has not been paid to date.
According to him, the government should pay the price difference debt 17 days after the program took place. However, a year has passed and they have not been paid.
“We don’t want to threaten, but this is our way to be heard. Regarding when (stop selling), we are still coordinating first with members of the association, if there is absolutely no attention from the government we will do that,” Roy said at the Iftar Together, Thursday (13/4).
Roy explained that the one-price oil program launched by the government in early 2022 was not Aprindo’s will. However, it must comply with Minister of Trade Regulation No. 3 of 2022.
The regulation requires entrepreneurs to sell premium packaged cooking oil for IDR 14,000 per liter. This was the impact of wild cooking oil prices in the market at the beginning of last year.
“So rafaksi is not a retail will, because there are regulations from the Minister of Trade. That is the provision that applies in Minister of Trade Regulation 3 regarding cooking oil at one price. Everything is sold for IDR 14,000 from January 19 to January 31,” he explained.
He continued, in the regulation the government is also required to pay the difference in price. However, the debt has not been paid, instead Permendag 3 is replaced by Permendag Number 6 of 2022.
The new regulation cancels the old regulation regarding the payment of price differences that must be borne by the government. So, until now the entrepreneur has not received the payment of the debt.
“Permendag 6 appeared, so Permendag 3 is no longer valid, but that doesn’t mean that rafaksi was not paid. We have deposited all the data on January 31, we have complied with everything, but we haven’t been paid yet,” he concluded.
