The Toyota Land Cruiser is synonymous with a car that is suitable for people with deep pockets. It’s not surprising that just filling a full tank of fuel will cost you this much money.

Having the cheapest price tag of around IDR 2.4 billion, cars like the Toyota Land Cruiser are clearly targeting the upper middle class. Yes, this dashing SUV is also quite identical to the cars used by officials in Indonesia. Apart from the high price, the fuel filling costs are also quite draining.

It is known from the manual for the latest Toyota Land Cruiser that this SUV has a tank capacity of 80 liters. Regarding the type of fuel, it is explained that you can only use diesel fuel containing 10 ppm or less sulfur with a cetane number of 48 or higher.

There are various types of diesel fuel in Indonesia. When referring to the cetane number, 48 cetane diesel fuel can be found in the Biosolar type or even higher Dexlite (CN 51). There is also Pertamina Dex which has CN 53. In terms of sulfur content, diesel contains a maximum of 2,500 ppm sulfur while Dexlite has a maximum of 1,200 ppm, and Pertamina Dex has a maximum of 50 ppm.

Meanwhile, diesel fuel that has a sulfur content of 10 ppm is Shell V-Power Diesel. Quoting the Shell Indonesia page, Shell V-Power Diesel has adopted the Euro 5 standard with ultra-low sulfur content, namely 10 ppm.

Cost of Filling a Full Tank Land Cruiser

If you use diesel fuel with a low ppm content, the choice is V-Power Diesel. Shell V-Power Diesel is currently selling for IDR 17,780 per liter. To fill the tank completely from zero, the vehicle owner must spend IDR 1,422,400. Not much different, if the fuel chosen is Pertamina Dex at a price of IDR 17,750 per liter, then the cost of filling a full tank is IDR 1,420,000.

The tank capacity of the Land Cruiser 300 is smaller than the previous version. It is known that the 2020-2022 Land Cruiser 200 has a tank capacity without a reserve fuel tank system of up to 93 liters. Meanwhile, if a vehicle has a reserve fuel tank system it reaches 138 liters. Regarding the type of fuel, you are asked to use a minimum of 48 or higher. There is also no detailed explanation regarding the contents of PPM.

If the Land Cruiser 200 is fully filled and uses Dexlite class fuel (Rp. 16,950 per liter), then the costs will be Rp. 1,576,350. However, if the tank is 138 liters, the cost of filling it completely with Dexlite will be IDR 2,339,100. However, if the fuel used by Biosolar has a cetane of 48, a full tank of a Land Cruiser 200 without a reserve tank will run out at IDR 632,400. But if you calculate the tank reserve, the vehicle owner will spend IDR 938,400. It should be noted, the calculation simulation above applies if the filling is carried out when the tank is empty to full.
