Apple’s Vision Pro Launch and Impact on CES 2024: AR/VR Products, Potential Industry Changes, and Next Steps

CES 2024 will be held from January 9th to 12th US time. As always, Apple is still not participating in this year’s CES show, but the company’s influence is still extraordinary. Just the day before CES, Apple suddenly announced that its head-mounted display product Vision Pro would be released on February 2, local time. The outside world believed that Apple’s move would inevitably destroy part of the prestige of CES 2024.

Foreign media believe that at this year’s CES exhibition, many companies are exhibiting with AR/VR technology, and many head-mounted display products also provide similar functions to Vision Pro, but no product is as good as Apple’s Vision Pro. impressive.

In addition to head-mounted display products, Qualcomm also demonstrated the VR chip Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 at the CES 2024 exhibition. This chip will be used in new products launched by Sony.

Although there are still many AR/VR products at this year’s CES show, products with “Vision Pro style” may still be under development.

Interestingly, CES theme project director Brian Comiskey was asked by a reporter from Science and Technology News, “Last year, CES set up a special area for the Metaverse. This year Vision Pro will be launched again. What do you think the next development of the Metaverse will look like?” At that time, Comiskey not only believed that Apple Vision Pro would become a turning point in the AR/VR market, but the company would also become a major beneficiary of the overall AR/VR ecosystem.

Comiskey also emphasized that Apple’s entry into the AR/VR field may bring changes to the entire industry, but then other companies may be inspired by certain Apple functions and provide similar functions or even surpass the services provided by Apple.
