Apple’s Virtual Event: Scary Fast Launch of New Mac and Updates to MacBook Pro Expected

APPLE has announced a special virtual event to be held on October 30, 2023. The event is believed to focus on the launch of the new Mac. This event will be a virtual event broadcast via the Apple website, right on ‘spooky’ Halloween night at 17.00 local time (31 October at 7.00 WIB).

Quoted from 9to5Mac, different from several previous Apple events, the event entitled ‘Scary Fast’ will be held completely virtually. There was no face-to-face, even for the press. Anyone can watch it live via Apple’s website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app.

This also marks the tech giant’s first weeknight event. In the past, Apple events were usually held at more reasonable times or during business hours in the US.

Apple’s event at the end of October is expected to focus on the introduction of new Macs. The company is reportedly working on a new iMac and will likely bring updates to the MacBook Pro.

On the Apple Event website, there’s an animated version of the invitation artwork in which the Apple logo transforms into a spooky-style Finder face, a clear hint at the new Mac.

One question that remains is, is Apple ready to launch its next-generation M3 chip or not at this event?

It’s possible that the new iMac will be powered by the M2 chip that was first unveiled at WWDC 2022. However, the ‘Scary Fast’ tagline seems to imply that there will be more dramatic speed improvements to come.

Apple previously carried out a chip update on the iMac in April 2021, launching the iMac with the M1 chip. The M1 iMac features a new ultra-thin design, and is available in a variety of unique colors. However, the 24-inch iMac has not been updated since then.

Instead, in January 2023, Apple held a virtual ‘event’ to announce updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M2 chips. Instead of broadcasting the event live, the announcement was presented in the form of a press release on Apple’s website and a video published via YouTube. (kna)
