The newly revealed 10th generation iPad features, among other things, a completely new design for a more modern look, a larger screen and the A14 Bionic chip.
Apple has not only unveiled the latest generation of iPad Pro models, but also the latest generation of regular iPads. While the new Pro models come with a newer chipset and not much else, the new iPad offers a completely new design and a newer chipset.
Apple’s cheapest iPad now has a more modern design similar to the design of the more expensive iPad Pro models. That means flatter edges and a generally larger screen that now measures 10.9 inches compared to the previous 10.2 inches. In terms of resolution, it is around 2,360 x 1,660 pixels and the maximum brightness is 500 nits.
Functionally, we find two microphones and two speakers in the device. The front houses a 12-megapixel FaceTime camera and also on the back is a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording videos in 4K resolution. The Touch ID functionality remains but has now been moved to the top of the device inside the power button.
Looking at the specs, the new iPad 2022 model comes with the A14 Bionic chipset. The same circuit found inside other Apple products such as the iPhone 12 and iPad Air 4. According to Apple, the circuit is expected to contribute to machine learning up to 80% better than the A13. It should also have 20 percent higher processor performance and ten percent higher graphics performance than the previous generation.
In terms of connectivity, we see WiFi 6 and cellular models come with 5G support. With the new model, Apple eliminates the Lightning port and replaces it with USB-C. Not entirely surprising considering they will soon be forced to skip Lightning on all products.
The latest edition of Apple’s cheapest tablet is now available for pre-order and sales begin on October 26th. In terms of pricing, the WiFi-only model starts at SEK 6,595, and if 5G support is desired, a price from SEK 8,795 applies. The two variants can also be had with 256 GB of storage space. So it is 8,795 SEK for the WiFi variant and 10,995 SEK for the 5G variant that applies.
