Apple warns global chip shortage will impact iPhone production

Jakarta: Currently, the world is experiencing a shortage of chips and this has an impact on the devices produced this year, so there is the potential to experience a shortage of devices. This will have an impact on various companies, large or small, and Apple is no exception.

Quotes Ubergizmo, Apple has warned investors that the global shortage of chips will impact their ability to market products, such as Mac computers, iPads, and will also impact production of the iPhone, Apple’s best-selling product to date.

Apple stated that the shortage of chips would be milder than its initial prediction for the third quarter of 2021, but predicts that this shortage will worsen in the fourth quarter.

According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, Apple was facing a number of shortages, with huge demand, and exceeding their expectations so that Apple had difficulty preparing the entire set of components at the same time.

Until now, there is no information available regarding the magnitude of the impact of the scarcity of this chipset on sales or consumer demand for the iPhone. Apple generally faces quite high demand at the launch of new iPhones.

Previously, Apple released iOS 14.7 with additional feature support including support for magnetic battery accessories. Unfortunately, this update also interferes with the Unlock with iPhone feature associated with the Apple Watch.

Now Apple released another update, iOS 14.7.1 to fix this problem. Recent reports suggest that iPhone users but not using an Apple Watch still need to install this update immediately, as well as install macOS 11.5.1 for Mac owners.

Meanwhile, supply chain partners say that Apple will increase the battery charging speed of some iPhone 13 models to as high as 25W. This 25W charger will be marketed at a higher price when compared to Apple’s 20W charger for USD 19.99 (Rp 289,358).
