Apple TV + recruits Tom Hanks and Joseph Gordon-Levitt

To establish itself more durably in the panorama of SVOD, Apple TV + must further enrich its catalog. To do this, the firm announces two new productions, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hanks in the cast.

Faced with the giants Netflix and Disney +, Apple TV + is struggling to win. The choice of the platform to offer only new content prevents it from developing as quickly as its competitors, which were launched at the same time as Disney + for example. However, the apple is gaining ground and announces two new productions. She debauchery two stars of the big screen: Joseph Gordon-Levitt et Tom Hanks.

Finch avec Tom Hanks

This is a great acquisition for Apple, which has just won the broadcasting rights for the next feature film starring Tom Hanks. First promised for a theatrical release with Universal, it will finally be broadcast on Apple TV + later this year. Baptized Finch, it follows the adventures of a robotics engineer and his companions: a robot and a dog. This unlikely family lives in a bunker and is among the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar disaster that left the world fallow. They will embark on a perilous journey through the American West.

In the casting, we will obviously find Tom Hanks in the title role. The actor will be playing Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out). The production will be provided by Miguel Sapochnik. The director has notably directed several episodes of the series Game of Thrones. His work on the Battle of the Bastards has earned him two Emmys. If no release date is advanced yet, Deadline announces that it could be broadcast at the end of this year 2021. It is a way for the firm to ensure a warm place during the various awards ceremonies.

Mr. Corman with Joseph Gordon-Levitt

After The Chicago Seven, broadcast on Netflix, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will again collaborate with a SVOD platform. This time, the actor and director will be featured in a series. Called Mr. Corman, this comedy-drama in ten episodes will follow the adventures of Josh Corman, an artist who has just been dumped by his fiancée and who now lives in a roommate with his friend from University Victor. The series will explore the coming of age in ways “Darkly funny, strangely beautiful and deeply sincere” announces the firm in a press release. Behind the camera, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will act as director and executive producer. He is also writing the screenplay. In the casting, we will also find Arturo Castro (Narcos), Debra Winger (The Ranch), Bobby Hall (Mad Men) et Juno Temple (Mr Nobody). The first three episodes will be broadcast on August 6, then on a weekly basis every Friday.
