Most factories in China that supply devices and components to Apple continue to produce products on the conveyor belt. Still, Apple suppliers are concerned that they will not achieve their goals as demand may fall short of expectations.

Will iPhone 12 be moved?

Loud Reuters A senior executive at one of Apple’s major suppliers said that orders for March’s quarter are likely to decrease 18 percent year over year. The start of production for new 5G iPhones has also been postponed. However, the unspecified source also said that it is still quite possible that Apple will stick to its release plan. At least production output is no longer a problem in China, only demand could remain below original expectations.

Even though there are initial voices that suspect that Apple is postponing the release of the iPhone 12 for a few months, most experts still expect an autumn release. However, it remains that several suppliers are currently concerned because Apple’s orders may initially decline. An Apple Display supplier, who had expected to deliver 70 million iPhone displays to Apple, is considering lowering that goal to 58 million and reducing the workforce on its Apple production lines in Vietnam.

A supplier in Malaysia explains that things are changing “day to day” due to the ongoing interruptions in the supply chain. So in this early stage it is difficult to get a picture for the rest of the year. Some suppliers do not even anticipate a decline in demand. A supplier of iPhone sensors even told Reuters that the current quarter is developing better than last year and that a higher delivery volume is expected.
