Apple says “music is about to change forever”

Apple Inc (NASDAQ ๐ is teasing its Apple Music users on iOS and macOS through an animated video that could be an indicator of the introduction of the lossless or 3D audio compression feature, AppleInsider reported Sunday.
What has happened: The short film, available in the navigation section of Apple Music, shows a rotating logo of the service.
The text that accompanies the video says: “Get ready, the music is about to change forever.”

The hifi or HiFi service that is being rumored could cost an additional $ 9.99 per user, according to Apple Insider, citing sources from record companies.
Why it matters: The rotating nature of the graphic in the video could indicate an imminent release of 3D audio that could be complementary to Spatial Audio, a feature offered by AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, as Apple Insider noted in its post.
Launching lossless audio tracks in Music would pit the Tim Cook-led company against companies like Tidal, owned by Square Inc (NYSE: NYSE :), and Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ: NASDAQ ๐ music services, which already offer higher quality options.
On the other hand, Spotify Technology SA (NYSE: NYSE ๐ announced a HiFi feature in February that has not been implemented as of yet.
Lossless audio could take up to three times the space on a user’s device compared to the average for “high-quality” versions, according to AppleInsider. These clues could also lead to higher data usage.
The price movement: On Friday, Apple shares closed almost 2% higher at $ 127.45 in the regular trading session.
