Apple removes controversial Touch Bar from new MacBook Pro

For the last few editions of the MacBook Pro, Apple had a striking and interesting idea. Instead of the row of F buttons on the top, the physical buttons were replaced by a Touch Bar. With the touchscreen users still have access to the F buttons, but it is also possible to have other functions within reach. The idea was good, but according to many the execution was just a lot less.

After all the controversy and user complaints, it seems that Apple is not going to release an improved version of the Touch Bar, but is dropping the idea altogether. That appears from a report from DSCC analysts. According to the report, the Touch Bar is currently the third largest use case of OLED displays, but Apple will drop the technology altogether in the future. the same will be confirmed by the often well-informed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Problems with the Touch Bar

Most of the complaints about the Touch Bar that users have is that the feature takes away more convenience than it introduces. With no physical buttons to feel, pressing an F-key requires you to look down at the Touch Bar. In addition, the Touch Bar sometimes does not respond when you press it or does not start at all.

Apple originally introduced the Touch Bar in 2016 and also included it in the new MacBook Pro version with Apple’s own M1 chip. So it looks like that MacBook Pro will be the last with a Touch Bar.
