If you have installed the first or the second beta, you can activate the “Unlock with Apple Watch” function by going to “Settings” on your iPhone, then in “Face ID & Passcode”. Once you enable this option, your Apple Watch will be able to authenticate your iPhone as long as the following conditions are met:

  • Face ID detects a mask
  • Your Apple Watch is nearby
  • Your Apple Watch is on your wrist
  • Your Apple Watch is unlocked
  • Your Apple Watch has a password enabled

Whenever your iPhone detects a mask, the watch will automatically unlock the phone.

In addition to the Apple Watch unlock feature, watchOS 7.4 adds AirPlay 2 support to Apple Fitness +. This means that workouts can be streamed to a TV or AirPlay compatible box. The only limitation is that live metrics, such as heart rate, do not appear onscreen when streamed through AirPlay.
