As the newspaper reports L’Express, Apple lost its lawsuit against the Xiaomi company on December 15.

The Paris Court of Appeal indeed ruled on a rather astonishing case on the use of the name Mi Cloud, the cloud service belonging to the company Xiaomi. According to Apple, this name was likely to create a risk of confusion for users. A heresy for Xiaomi.
Only, no luck for Apple, because the judges considered that the reasons given are simply not not valid !
«Despite the identity or similarity of the goods and services in question, the likelihood of confusion between the signs present has not been demonstrated in this case for the consumer. […] normally informed and reasonably attentive ».

Tim Cook is not satisfied
In a recent statement from CEO from the company, Tim Cook says :
“Since its inception, the Xiaomi company openly copies Apple’s products and marketing, including its family brands such as Mi Phone, Mi Pad, Mi Book Air”

However, la firm with apple does not always lose his trials. Remember in particular that Germany or in Suisse for example, Apple had already opposed with success at the record of the brand Mi Cloud.
Hopefully the tensions go down againt between these 2 companies. A hope rather badly started, because Apple does not intend to let itself be done in the future on the quasi use identical of last name of its services and products.
