Apple Launches New Sports App to Challenge Third-Party Apps

Apple doesn’t really want you to use apps that aren’t developed by Apple. Despite the fact that you can download a variety of apps related to news, sports, entertainment, productivity and the like, Apple also offers ways to access most of what these additional apps do, but in one place. We’ve seen this in the past with Apple News and Apple TV, but now it seems the tech giant is also correcting the attention against the sports sector.

The new Apple Sports app is a free service that gives users access to information and results from a number of teams and leagues from around the world. As it stands now, you can find information on Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, NBA, NHL, MLS, NCAA basketball and Liga MX, but there will also be support for MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL and the WNBA in the future for their upcoming seasons.

Currently, Apple Sports is only available in the UK, US and Canada, but it already supports French and Spanish.
