Apple presented the first “Pro iPhone” last year and has been marketing it with a “Pro camera system” and “Pro display” ever since. But what is missing in marketing and what we know from the iPad Pro: ProMotion. That is the name for 120 Hz at Apple. The upcoming iPhone 12 Pro should get the upgrade.
Apple iPhone 2020: 120 Hz only for Pro models
As Max Weinbach has learned, Apple will provide the upcoming Pro models with a 120 Hz display in autumn. The normal iPhone 12 (I’ll just call the new iPhones iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro) will stay at 60 Hz. A display with 90 Hz is not an option at Apple and will not come.

The notch should also become smaller and the angle at which Face ID recognizes you will be larger. It may not be big enough to recognize you when the iPhone is flat on the table, but it’s supposed to be a step forward.
Apple iPhone 2020: Navy Blue as a new color
The new color for autumn is known as “Navy Blue” and will probably replace “Midnight Green”. The matt glass back should remain in 2020. With the camera, it would also be possible for Apple to give the lenses a black look like the lidar sensor (which the Pro models get).
It was from a camera with 64 megapixels, but this plan has since been rejected and Apple remains at 12 megapixels. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are said to have a new and larger sensor, but no more megapixels.
Apple iPhone 2020: telephoto with 3x zoom
Apple has optimized the night mode and will probably also offer this for the telephoto camera, which now has a 3x instead of 2x zoom. The digital zoom could be possible up to 30 times. Zoom continues to play an important role and is even the first for 2022 talking about a periscope camera.
The lidar sensor is used much better on the iPhone than on the iPad Pro and helps with focus and portrait shots. Apple has also further optimized the HDR mode in the iPhone 12 (Pro). The camera should generally get an even bigger upgrade this year than the camera from the iPhone 11 Pro.
The iPhone 12 Pro will get a design like the current iPad Pro, the notch will get smaller, Navy Blue will be introduced as a new color, the display will get 120 Hz and the camera will get another big upgrade. With the Apple iPhone, there is another big step ahead after three years.
