Apple forced to pay $ 950 million to Samsung

Apple would not have been able to buy enough screens from Samsung.

To supply OLED screens for its iPhones, Apple uses Samsung in particular. The company benefits from preferential rates, due to the volumes of its orders. However, iPhone sales have dropped. The American giant must however honor its orders.

Samsung announced last week forecasts of profit in strong progression and a turnover higher than last year, over the same period. And in particular a single payment due to his “sale of screens”. According to the Display Supply Chain site, this sum would come from Apple. The brand should have paid this penalty, which would amount to $ 950 million, from Samsung. The sum of $ 748 million had already been mentioned.

This penalty is a direct result of confinement. The closure of Apple Stores and sanitary measures made the period difficult for sales, including the iPhone.

The iGen site reminds us that last year, Apple had already been forced to pay $ 683 million for the same reason. IPhone sales fell sharply in China at that time.
