Apple Ensures New iPhone Presence Delayed, October?

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Apple has confirmed its plans to launch iPhone just a little slower this year. “Last year we started selling the new iPhone at the end of September, this year we expect supply to be available a few weeks later,” Apple CFO Luca Maestri said at a meeting with investors on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

Maestri did not disclose the reason for the iPhone supply this year being delayed or constrained, but rumors about iPhone delays have been circulating for months, as quoted by The Verge, Thursday.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that Apple had delayed mass production of the upcoming iPhone handset by about a month. Qualcomm also signaled the iPhone’s delay earlier this week, highlighting the “partial impact of the postponement of the launch of the global 5G phone” for fourth quarter projections.

Apple usually launches an annual iPhone update in September and starts shipping the device before the end of the month. It is unclear whether the device will not be ready until October, but Apple can still choose to launch its new handset during the event in September.

This is not the first time Apple has postponed sending an iPhone. The iPhone X was announced with the iPhone 8 in September 2017, but did not arrive at the store until November due to production problems.

Apple The iPhone XR was also announced in September 2018, and entered stores in October after reports said Apple was having problems with LCD screen production.
