It was rumored that Apple would release its iPhones later this year. Earlier this week, chipmaker Qualcomm announced that “postponing an important 5G phone” could have an impact on the company’s results.
It is not the first time that Apple has been delayed in the release of an iPhone. The iPhone X was announced in September 2017, but was only released in November due to production problems. The iPhone XR was announced in September 2018, but was only in stores a month later, due to problems with LCD screen production.
Good quarter for Apple
Apple announced in its quarterly figures that it had sales of $ 59.7 billion (EUR 50.2 billion). That is 11 percent more than in the same quarter last year. Earnings were also higher, at $ 11.25 billion ($ 9.46 billion) compared to $ 10 billion last year.
Apple did not disclose how many products it sold, but sales rose in each category. The iPhone raised $ 25.4 billion in the past quarter, thanks in part to the release of the iPhone SE.
The iPad was also sold more often. The sales made Apple $ 6.6 billion. In the same quarter last year, it was $ 5 billion. The Mac delivered 20 percent more revenue than last year: $ 7.1 billion.
