Apple abandons plans for a cheaper iPad on the market

For some time now, rumors have been indicating the possibility that Apple will launch a new iPad, cheaper and more accessible to the market. This model would have a plastic construction and would have an integrated physical keyboard.

According to Mark Gurmanthe device would have a final sale price of less than $ 500 and would focus primarily on direct competition with the growing Chromebook market, particularly in the United States.

However, according to the same source, it seems that Apple has now decided to put aside plans for this new iPad, instead focusing on the models currently on the market. Apple’s idea with this new, cheaper iPad model would be to compete with the growing Chromebook market, where several schools in the United States have started adopting the same as a business tool, during the pandemic and beyond.

For now, Apple’s plans seem to indicate that this new plastic iPad model will have been sidelined and it is believed that it may have been because the company was unable to get a good price / feature ratio for the device compared to the Chromebook.

As always, Apple does not leave any comments regarding this idea, nor that it would be developing this device.
