The decision of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal in the appeal around the trash can-encyclopedia comes two weeks later. That is what the court of appeal and the lawyer of the publisher of the book have indicated ANP let them know. The verdict was supposed to be Tuesday.
Publisher Noblesse appealed against an earlier decision about an encyclopedia published by it about the well-known TV program trash can† The judge ruled that all books must be provided with a sticker that reads “unauthorized”. The publisher wants, among other things, that the judge reverses that decision.

The judge granted them that access, after which the men again went to court. This time they wanted it to be clear to buyers that they had nothing to do with the creation of the book. They invoked trademark law.
‘Insufficient account was taken of journalistic interests’
The judge ruled in favor of Romeyn and Koch and ruled that the publisher should provide all books with a sticker that reads “unauthorized”.
Noblesse appealed against that decision. The company’s lawyer believes that it should remain possible to publish an unauthorized book about a phenomenon such as trash can without having to add a sticker.
The Press Freedom Fund, founded by the journalists’ union NVJ and the Dutch Association of Editors in Chief, supports the publishing house and helped pay for the appeal. The fund believes that the judge did not take sufficient account of journalistic interests in the ruling.
