Appeal: 6.5 years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment for Hoorn street rapist | Inland

The court in Amsterdam considers it proven that T. was guilty of two very violent assaults in a short time in 2019 and of raping a 23-year-old woman several times, whom he had pulled from her bicycle at Holenweg.

The court sees evidence mainly in traces found and DNA research. It is of the opinion that T. has not been able to explain the conclusions of the experts that are incriminating for him: “The Court of Appeal concludes that the suspect is the donor of part of the cellular material that was found in the crotch of the complainant’s trousers. ” Similar DNA traces of T. were found on the victims in all three cases.

Punishment equal to demand

The sentence imposed by the court is equal to the demand of the advocate general in this appeal case and higher than the five years and TBS to which T. was sentenced in 2020 by the court in Alkmaar. Contrary to the earlier judgment of the court, T. was not acquitted this time of one of the assaults charged on him.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, psychiatric research has shown that T. has an antisocial disorder and suffers from narcissistic traits.

Wife pulled from bicycle

The most notorious case for which T. has now been convicted caused a real wave of fear in Hoorn. After a night out, a then 23-year-old woman at the Holenweg in Hoorn was pulled from her bicycle and mistreated. Under the threat of slitting her throat, he forced her into sexual acts and raped her several times.

T. also committed the assaults by hitting and uttering death threats. The fact that T. has been sentenced to TBS is in accordance with the explicit wish of the victims, who fear that he will repeat himself. One victim stated: “This man is not stopping.”

Long criminal record

T. has a long criminal record. The offense that stands out the most is a rape from 2014, which T. committed during his probation period after a previous conviction for a series of robberies. On July 11 of that year, he forced a then 16-year-old girl to have sex in the evening. “You have to shut up or I’ll shoot,” T. said as he raped the terrified teen.

Like the three victims from 2019, the 16-year-old also contracted post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the rape.
