Apparent accident cuts EN 203 in Ponte de Lima and makes three injured

The construction of the “largest multi-purpose pavilion” in the Viana do Castelo district, in a private investment of eight million euros, will proceed “immediately” and should be completed within two years, it was announced today.

At stake is the construction, by a private developer, of a Transfrontier Exhibition Center (CET) and a public park with three hectares, which will have a lake, showers and sports equipment, and which will be installed in the current Quinta do Corgo, in parish of Vilarelho, in Caminha.

The new space, scheduled to be completed in two years time, will have the capacity to accommodate 2,600 seated spectators, or 5,500 standing.

“The CET and the public park materialize an investment of eight million euros, which will be implemented immediately. Having built the infrastructure, the municipality of Caminha will lease it for 25 thousand euros per month, for 25 years. The municipality may choose to lease or sub-lease or directly explore the complex, in whole or in part ”, explains the municipality in a statement sent to the press today.

The “promissory lease agreement makes the investment feasible, but it will only become definitive after the construction of the work”, being that “the maintenance of the complex is the responsibility of the private investor, but the municipality of Caminha reserves the option to purchase the infrastructure”.

According to the Chamber chaired by socialist Miguel Alves today, that promissory lease agreement was approved, on Friday night, at a meeting of the Municipal Assembly, by a “large majority”.

“The draft of the promissory lease contract for non-housing purposes of the future CET was approved by 22 members of the assembly and registered five votes against and eight abstentions,” the note specifies.

In the note, the municipality adds that during the discussion of that proposal, on Friday night, intervened, among others, a representative of the investor “who explained the entire philosophy of the group and revealed the reasons why Caminha was chosen for such an investment. wingspan”.

The Greenfield administrator “also made a presentation of the project and showed the essential lines of the study carried out on the area of ​​influence where this investment will have an impact, which includes territories of Galicia”.

“The two jurisconsults that analyzed and endorsed, from a technical and legal point of view, the CET business model, also took part”, the note maintains.

For the Câmara de Caminha, “it was necessary to go further and make the municipality attractive throughout the year, fighting seasonality”, and “the CET will make it possible to take this step, creating conditions for hosting major national and international events. , during 365 days ”.

“The investment was carefully considered and negotiated and all the entities and people who worked on this ‘dossier’ have a recognized and public curriculum”, he maintains.

On Monday, the three PSD councilors in the Socialist majority Chamber, rejected that contract for “not defending Caminha’s interests and aiming at escaping the Court of Auditors’ visa”.

“This lease agreement is being made to benefit a private individual (…). It does not seem to us at all reasonable to be in such a hurry, over the knee and without any economic feasibility study, to make a promising lease that will mortgage the municipality of Caminha for many years ”, they defend in the note.
