Apollo 13 flight record taken by NASA Orion aircraft: Okezone techno

JAKARTAPlanes NASA’s Orion on the Artemis I mission broke new records, being able to fly farther than any spacecraft designed to carry astronauts.

The previous record was held by Apollo 13 in 1970. However, now Orion is approximately 401,798 kilometers from Earth, a greater distance than Apollo 13, which was 400,171 kilometers.

“The Artemis I mission was designed to stress the Orion system, and we chose a very retrograde orbit as a great way to do that,” said Jim Geffre, Orion’s spacecraft integration manager.

Furthermore, Jim Geffre also added, coinciding with a very large orbit and altitude above the Moon, Orion could surpass the Apollo 13 record.

“But what’s more important is to push the boundaries of exploration and send spacecraft farther than we’ve ever done before,” Jim said.

Earlier this week, Orion completed its flight across the Moon.

After the spacecraft completes half an orbit around the satellite, Orion will eject towards Earth.

NASA estimates that the Orion spacecraft will land off the coast of San Diego on December 11, 2022.
