Antwerp stylist and fashion designer Oemer Khan (27) has passed away

Posthumously

Stylist, model and designer Oemer Khan passed away on Thursday at the age of 27. Kahn dressed Adil El Arbi, Joffrey Anane and Anthony Nti, among others. For De Standaard Magazine he styled a shoot with emerging acting talent Jean Janssens.

Antwerp mourns the loss of designer, stylist and model Oemer Khan (27). The news of his death became known through a message from good friend Mo Urus on Instagram. Khan made a name for himself in the fashion world as a stylist for directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and dancer Joffrey Anane. He also dressed director Anthony N’ti during his participation in The Smartest Person in the World and politician Sihame El Kaouakibi wore a jacket of his design during her swearing-in ceremony in the Flemish Parliament in 2019.

Oemer Khan grew up in a creative home, which made him fall under the spell of fashion at an early age, he told Gazet van Antwerpen. As a young teenager he ventured into modeling, but ultimately he became captivated by the magic behind the cameras: styling.

Edgy

“We can make something very edgy and alternative and at the same time translate that into a brand that can sell well,” said his creative and business partner Lise Van Trijp to the network platform APBC (Antwerp. Powered by creatives).

Khan also did that for De Standaard Magazine. For the weekend magazine, he and photographer Thomas Ost styled an eye-catching shoot with emerging acting talent Jean Janssens (web series Love Tips to Myself). He also provided the styling for the fiction series Kameleon, which will be released on Streamz in 2024.

The twenty-something also designed clothing himself. He founded the label Studios by Oemer Khan, with which he upcycled second-hand clothing and transformed it into new pieces. That initiative was supported by established fashion brand Essentiel. In 2023, he supported the Antwerp art and culture house Cult, which supports the next generation of creatives.
