Antonio Valencia believes that it is a mistake to lift the quarantine in Ecuador

The Ecuadorian national team and one of the country’s main soccer referents, Luis Antonio Valencia, said that the quarantine for COVID-19 should not be lifted from May 4, as announced this week by President Lenin Moreno.

“It is a mistake to lift the quarantine,” the former English Manchester United captain and current Liga de Quito figure posted on his Twitter account.

“The longer we postpone isolation, the more lives will be saved,” added the midfielder who returned to Ecuadorian football last year, after a ten-year performance with the English team.

For Valencia, who won the Ecuador Cup title last year and at the beginning of 2020 the Ecuador Super Cup with the Quito League, he indicated that isolation is, according to him, “the only way to beat this pandemic.”

Valencia, like all footballers who play in Ecuadorian football, complies with the state of emergency decreed last March by the national government after the coronavirus outbreak in Ecuador.

The training and the Ecuadorian championship were suspended on March 15, when the fifth of the 30 dates that comprise the current season was disputed.
