Antonio Fernández-Campa: “65% of the shoots in Galicia are imported” | Radio Galicia

In the interview on Sunday at the Ser, Antonio Fernández-Campa, the manager of Sergas, analyzes the evolution of the pandemic and details that “65% of the shoots in Galicia are imported”; They are originated by “people who have moved to other territories or return to visit from other territories.” For this circumstance, he explains that measures must be established to restrict, as far as possible, the number of infections.

In that context, the Xunta calls on the central government to improve border control. Fernández Campa believes that the ministry’s foreign health department should review its measures and improve its coordination with the autonomous communities. “Of the imported cases, in none have we been warned of people with previous symptoms or problems”, index to claim these changes and also a sanctioning regulation on coronavirus that draws a similar framework throughout Spain.

On the traveler registration set in motion, thanks for the collaboration of citizens they are scoring at a good pace. It defends that initially the community of Madrid was not included among the affected territories and, also, the action of the Ministry that as soon as it has seen that the incidence increased, has changed its mind, although the deadline for the review that it was 15 days.

Campa justifies that Galicia is one of the communities that performs fewer PCR tests, because he says that the important thing is the number of positives and, for now, that percentage is below the average.

On the situation in the health area of A Coruña, he details that it is still well below the state average. The accumulated incidence in Galicia at 14 days is 13 cases per 100,000 inhabitants; In the health area of A Coruña it is 33, more than double the Galician but very far from the Spanish average that reaches 75. “What we hope is that the measures adopted since Saturday give results and with continuous monitoring see if they are enough “.

Sanidade gives itself a period of five days to review these measures, it does not rule out intensifying them if necessary. A priori, the manager of Sergas is more favorable to measures “surgical” in certain areas of action than in new confinements, aided by the fact that the functioning of the virus is becoming better known.

Regarding the figure of the trackers, he lists the different operations in which they are included from the preventive medicine services in the territorial headquarters to the call center coordinated by 061 that deals with the follow-up of positives and their contacts and checking issues as if they are complying with the prescribed isolation. Antonio Fernández-Campa highlights that PCR tests are being carried out on travelers from countries where the situation of covid-19 is complicated, such as Peru, Brazil, Mexico or Puerto Rico, “which has allowed us to detect asymptomatic positives.”
