On the scene, Antoine Griezmann was left speechless discovering his wax double in front of his wife, parents and loved ones in the room:

“I’m very shocked because he’s very well done. Even the eyes, the look, the smile, the teeth… Everything is perfect! I’m very moved, I’m very happy and very proud. A little shocked looking at me , but it’s very well done, it’s a great job done by the team. I’m very proud to be here and I hope to stay here as long as possible.” reacted the player of the France team who will celebrate his 32nd birthday on March 21.

A statue delayed due to COVID

“Antoine Griezmann won at the 2018 World Cup so we went to take the measurements in 2020 at his home in Barcelona but with COVID, the World Cup in Qatar and its busy schedule, his entry was delayed“, explains Yves Delhommeau, general manager of the Grévin Museum, at the microphone of Romain Ambro.

To shape his wax double, the teams at the Grévin Museum opted for this gesture so specific to “Grizou”: the celebration” discovered during Euro 2016 where the player raised both hands with thumbs and little fingers forward, even pushing the detail to the finger tattoos.

For the choice of outfit, it’s the Blues jersey for the 2020-2021 season which has been chosenthe date on which the measurements were taken on the number 7 footballer of the France team.

The difficult choice of hair color

For the hairstyle, the choice was difficult for the Grévin Museum and Antoine Griezmann gave the teams a hard time. “We wondered a lot. He changes often, but we chose to keep a rather neutral color. If the current pink persists over time, his hair could also be pink at Grévin”, explained Véronique Berecz, head of external relations at the microphone of France Bleu Paris.

Antoine Griezmann also hopes to return to the Grévin Museum “every 10 years, like Zidane” to update his statue over the years, Zinedine Zidane having already been entitled to three wax doubles to stick as close as possible to his physique. Next statue to make its entrance: the actress Audrey Fleuroton March 16.
