Citizens go to health centers for the first and second doses of anti-COVID-19

Citizens adapt to the new anti-COVID-19 vaccination process in the health centers of Guayaquil. Some due to ignorance today toured more than two schools from the electoral roll that are now disabled.

Since last Monday, the anti-COVID-19 vaccination has been carried out in the health centers of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) because the majority of the population is immunized and the electoral roll sites are not required as before. The Zone 8 health coordinator, Dr. Alexa Zambrano, explained that in Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón there are 115 health centers that will be authorized by the MSP for immunization.

In a tour that this newspaper made, he verified that more than twelve health centers do have the facilities and personnel for the administration of vaccines, however, today in Guasmo sur, in the health center of the Granada cooperative, they explained that they still The immunization was not carried out, which is being organized to take place in the next few days. Those who came today to ask about the vaccines were explained that they would be written down on a list to call them since in biologicals such as AstraZeneca a quota of 10 people must be completed.

While in the health center on Francisco Segura Street and Quito Avenue, he was vaccinated today with first doses of AstraZeneca and CanSino, as well as second doses of Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca. Medical personnel explained that they are only vaccinating those over 18 years of age, which has not yet coordinated with school personnel to send their students between 12 and 15 years old.

Jacinta López, a resident of Esteros, said that she went to the Amarilis Fuentes school and saw a large sign that said that since Monday, September 13, the only vaccination is in health centers. “I didn’t know, I hadn’t checked that those centers are already closed, I just looked at the electoral roll and went. I remembered that there is a dispensary here and I took a taxi because I don’t want to miss my date for the second dose of AstraZeneca ”.

At the same vaccination point, another 30 people lined up to access the doses. Some were looking for first doses of Pfizer, but medical personnel explained that at the moment there are only CanSino and AstraZeneca for first doses. There an exclusive area was set up for vaccination. Consultation patients entered through another remote door. There they indicated that it is attended until 2:00 p.m.

In the Popular Bastion type C health center, the space designated to immunize is larger, so more people have attended. There they do receive students from neighboring educational institutions so that they can access vaccination, without inconvenience. At that point it was indicated that the parents of the minors should go because they must sign a permit to be able to apply the dose.

And in the health center of Sauces 3 it was also indicated that the anti-COVID-19 vaccination is only carried out until noon due to the fact that the doses are exhausted. Residents of that sector indicated that there is a good reception of immunization, so yesterday they had to get up early to take their turn.

In addition to the health centers, there are still seven vaccination points in Guayaquil Durán and Samborondón. They are Mucho Lot 1, at the José Joaquín de Olmedo airport, at the Modelo stadium, at the Terminal 25 Julio of the Metrovía and at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Guayaquil; the Durán Convention Center and the Samborondón Coliseum. Three of them are managed by the Municipality of Guayaquil.

Nagib Chagenber, head of logistics for municipal vaccinations, explained that the dose allocation remains the same as before the change in strategy of the vaccination plan. More than 1,500 daily doses of the four available vaccines are delivered at the Estadio Modelo esplanade, at Mucho Lote 1 and at the Terminal de la Metrovía 25 de Julio.

He explained that in Solca vaccination is also maintained for his patients or their families.
