Anthony Sinisuka Ginting Withdraws from World Championship 2023 Due to Personal Tragedy

Indonesian men’s singles badminton, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting definitely not participating World Championship 2023. Still in a grieving mood, Ginting didn’t have much time left for preparatory exercises so he decided to be absent first.

Launching from the official social media belonging to the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Twitter @INABadminton, the men’s singles coach, Coach Irwansyah himself, has confirmed the news.

“Ginting can’t appear World Championship because we are still in a state of mourning over the passing of our beloved mother,” said coach Irwansyah in PBSI’s official tweet last Thursday (17/8).

Ginting’s setback is certainly not a surprise for Indonesian badminton fans. Ginting’s beloved mother, Lucia Sriati recently breathed her last on Wednesday (9/8) in Bandung.

The funeral was held on Saturday (12/8) at Graha Sentosa Memorial Park, West Karawang. Currently, of course, Ginting is still in mourning and does not have the maximum opportunity to train to prepare for his performance at the 2023 World Championships.

In response to official news from PBSI regarding Ginting’s withdrawal from the 2023 World Championships, many fans have sent words of encouragement to Ginting. Missing the opportunity to compete in the World Championships is very unfortunate, but of course family is above all.

“No one is bigger than Mother, it’s okay Ting. take your time,” wrote @gam********* in the comments column on PBSI’s Twitter @INABadminton.

“Take your time, recover first. Losing a mother figure is tough. Ginting’s enthusiasm, after this we can definitely go higher, “ comment from @kota************.

“It’s okay Ginting, take your time. Hopefully given a lot of consolation and peace yes, ” write @ayan************.

“Its okeeee, take your time onik,” comment from @mei**********.

With Ginting withdrawing from the 2023 World Championships, it is most likely that the Badminton World Federation (BWF) will impose a fine of around $250 or 3.8 million rupiah on the Indonesian men’s singles. This is of course related to the invitation to the World Championships which are exclusive and the decision to withdraw which was made after the draw had been announced.

Apart from Ginting, Indonesia still has 2 of its best representatives in the men’s singles sector, namely Jonatan Christie and also Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
