Antargaz: Exiting Belgian Market Amid Energy Crisis, Octa+ Seizes Opportunity

Antargaz was active on the Belgian market for ten years. The company, a subsidiary of the American multinational UGI, had great ambitions but was unable to realize them. According to De Tijd, the energy crisis has made the company decide to throw in the towel. Earlier, other smaller players such as the Flemish Energy Supplier and Watz also stopped.

The takeover of the competitor’s customer portfolio is good news for Octa+. This mainly concerns SME customers, so that Octa+ is strongly strengthening itself in the segment of professional customers. In the first half of the year, Octa+ also saw a 10 percent growth in the number of customers.

Antargaz is the market leader in our country in propane and butane, gas that is sold in tanks and bottles for heating homes or for recreational purposes, and will also remain active here, according to ‘De Tijd’. At the same time, it is also focusing on greening: next month the first load of biopropane will be delivered to a Belgian customer. By 2030, a quarter must come from renewable sources.
