Another railway accident: Seven wagons derailed near Prague, two people were injured

In Mstětice near Prague today, wagons derailed near the railway crossing. 32 parked cars passed on the siding, seven of them derailed. They damaged a car, a traction pole and a railway building, the so-called interlocking. Two people are injured, the driver of the car was slightly injured, after treatment on the spot he was taken to the Hospital in Bulovka, the track worker was treated on the spot.


The wagons left after 9:00 and passed through the railway crossing, which was secured by traffic lights and barriers, but the device did not signal the approaching railway cars at the time of the wagons’ passage. They derailed after a collision with a passing car. “The Railway Inspectorate has started an investigation into the emergency,” said Railway Inspector spokesman Martin Drápal.

Rescue work is underway on site

Railway firefighters work on site. Derailed wagons are rescued using a special technique. There are three vehicles on site, including a rescue car.

Operation between the stations Prague Horní Počernice – Čelákovice is interrupted. Czech Railways, passengers to and from the Zeleneč stop can use line 353 of Prague public transport. Mstětice is part of the village Zeleneč.
