In Suriname, one person has died in the past 24 hours after being infected by the dreaded corona virus. It concerns a person who was admitted to the Academic Hospital in Paramaribo. The number of people who died from COVID-19 has therefore increased to 119.
This is evident from the update of the figures on Friday evening, Christmas Day on the official COVID-19 website of the Surinamese government. In the past 24 hours, 70 new cases were also registered after 321 tests. Even now most cases are registered in Paramaribo, namely 34 and 24 in Wanica.
Friday is also in Nickerie raised the alarm after 5 new infections. There were already 3 active cases, increasing the total number of active cases in the rice district to 8. Medics are concerned that there have never been so many positive cases at once.
