Anonymous reporter warns Máxima Medical Center about data breach patient data – IT Pro – News

Reporting anonymously can also have very different motives than a criminal motivation.

If the person you report to cannot protect personal data well enough, it is possible that your data as a reporter is also not coordinated well enough.
Sometimes you do not always know how the lawyers of a party will deal with a report, and you report anonymously to avoid red tape, even if you act correctly.
If your data is part of the leak, it is sometimes useful that you are not known, for example to prevent ‘special treatment’.
And perhaps reporting is not about the reward but about helping to rectify what is (unintentionally) wrong.
Not for direct personal interest and anonymity ensures that there can be less confusion about this.
