As a new measure against the spread of the coronavirus, Walmart will require all of its employees to wear face masks beginning Monday.
In a letter sent to employees Friday by Scripps National, Walmart said it is requiring associates to cover their faces as of Monday as they work to mitigate transmission of the coronavirus, Fox 13 reported.
Walmart said its associates will have the option of using their own facial coverage, or using one provided by the company. This requirement applies to workers in all stores, clubs, distribution and dispatch centers, and corporate offices. The rule also affects Sam’s Club employees.
Walmart indicated to its employees that the company will also encourage customers to wear face masks while shopping, but will not require customers to wear them unless required by state law during the coronavirus crisis.
In turn, Walmart mentioned that exceptions to this policy will be made in accordance with local laws and individual health needs.
