Anmat banned the sale of a brand of olive oil | It was falsely labeled

The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (Anmat) this Tuesday prohibited the production, fractionation and marketing throughout the country and on online sales platforms of a brand of Riojan olive oil for lacking the corresponding health records, being falsely labeled and breach current food regulations.

This is the product “Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Blend” from the Finca La Anita brand, which is made in the province of La Rioja, as clarified by the Provision 680/2024published today in the Official Gazette with the signature of the head of the entity, Nélida Bisio.

The product is advertised and promoted on online sales platforms and lacks health registration of the establishment and product, and displays registration numbers on its label that have been canceled and belong to another company.

As stated in the government provision, the Health and Nutritional Food Surveillance Department of the National Food Institute (INAL) consulted the Food Safety Directorate of the province of La Rioja for the RNE and RNPA of the product, and the provincial agency reported that both records have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, since it is a product that cannot be reliably and clearly identified as produced, processed and/or fractionated in a specific establishment, its traceability, its manufacturing conditions, its quality cannot be guaranteed with adequate levels of control under the conditions established by current regulations and their safety.

Therefore, in order to protect the health of citizens from the consumption of illegal products, Anmat decided to prohibit their production, fractionation and marketing, in any presentation, batch and expiration date and throughout the national territory and on sales platforms. on-line.
