Animal production has increased 25% so far in 2020

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, held a productive day on Wednesday where he evaluated agricultural production in the first half of the year. In a live broadcast, he assured that there has been a 25% growth in animal production, in addition to a great advance in plant production.

“In animal and vegetable production we have a great advance, we are already in the production process of the second semester. He guaranteed producers the scientific, financial and political support, everything they need to feed the Venezuelan people, “said the head of state.

Maduro explained that despite the sanctions, the national government maintains support for national production, “we have had a first semester with the pandemic, with the intensification of US aggressions and nothing and nobody has stopped us. In the first semester we have had a 25% growth in animal production. Very important, and the distribution of direct animal protein to the Venezuelan home has increased, “he said during a television conference with the country’s productive sector.

He added that 705,470 head of cattle have been taken to slaughterhouses so far this year.

From the Aragua state in the Guayabita sector, Tuemero municipality, the Minister of Agriculture and Land, Wilman Castro Soteldo, announced that the pig and planting plan has already begun throughout the country. He added that milk production has increased, it is stipulated that 30 thousand animals a week go to the slaughterhouse to guarantee pig production.

Last April, the National Executive approved 13 million euros for the Animal Protein Distribution Plan, in order to meet the needs of the people during the covid-19 pandemic.

Production progress

The president made some television passes with the regions, where officials reported on the productive progress being made in agriculture.

“In a joint effort and in alliance with Agrosur, the Guárico Government and the private sector have planted 92,600 hectares of corn,” Governor José Manuel Vásquez stressed from the Socorro municipality in this entity. The planting goal for the winter 2020 cycle is 19,800 hectares of rice and soybeans.

For its part, Yesenia Pardo, representative of Bayer seeds, said that the company has been working together with Guárico associations, “to strengthen the sector.”

The progress of the plan was also ratified by the Guarico from El Dividive, in the municipality of Ortiz. In fact, more than 9,000 rotating animals are fattened in this production unit.

For his part, the Governor of Portuguesa, Rafael Calles, said that 23,000 piglets are produced each year at the Fontana farm, located in the La Lucía sector, and whose productivity is 1,840 standing tons per year.

And the governor of Monagas, Yelitze Santaella, inspected the Agropecuaria Pericoco in Maturín, which has the productive capacity of 40 pig mothers.

On the other hand, Venezuela requires Panaftosa to grant certification that allows us to export livestock products.
